Frequently, we hold sessions for parents and students to talk to each other about career choices, ask each other questions and understand one another.

In addition to academic, behavioral and emotional outcomes, parents are a major influence on their child’s career development and career decision-making. A considerable number of our students are the first in their family to seek higher education.

So having an expectation that their child should go to college or get vocationally trained is a profound shift for these families. We organize parent engagement sessions at the vocational centres and NGOs we work with, to promote and enhance parent involvement in their child's career aspirations.

It helps build partnerships between trainers and parents, and also goes a long way in helping youth pursue their goals.
