Rajani always loved stitching but realized that she needed to learn it formally to better her technique. She joined an ITI to acquire technical skills. It was at the ITI that she was introduced to the Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP) and began to seriously consider the possibility of starting a business.

“ Prior to the program, I didn’t look at business as a serious option. But the modules on customer interaction, online marketing and managing costing, helped me weigh the pros and cons of starting a business,” she adds.

Rajani realised a home-based boutique made the most sense for her as it involved low initial investment. She also decided to provide services for both traditional and western attire to have a wider customer base.

Rajani ,owing to her decisions, now has regular customers in her locality. She plans to open her own boutique in a central location once she is able to save some money through her home-based enterprise. See what Rajani has been stitching here –
